Jasprit Bumrah Smriti Mandhana andwrote their names in the history books after the International Cricket Council honored the Indian pair with the player of the month award for the month of June 2024 after their heroic performances for the Indian men's and women's teams.
For those unversed, Bumrah was the Player of the Tournament (POTM) in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which saw India lift the trophy after a gap of 17 years. Bumrah took 15 wickets in just eight games at a stunning economy of 4.17. His spell of 2-18 in the final proved to be the difference maker in a tense final as the Rohit Sharma-led side won a tense clash from the jaws of defeat.
Mandhana was in red-hot form as India hosted South Africa for an all-format series. Among the games played in June, she scored a total of 343 runs in three innings, which included knocks of 117, 136, and 90 as India completed a 3-0 whitewash. Mandhana became the first Indian to score back-to-back tons in ODI cricket. Later, she also scored a century in the one-off Test match against the Proteas with a knock of 149.

Bumrah is the 8th Indian male player to win the award after Rishabh Pant, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shreyas Iyer, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Gill remains the only Indian to win it twice.
Mandhana is the third Indian women's player to win the award after Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepti Sharma.
