Star India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah’s wife Sanjana Ganesan posted a heartfelt note for his husband after India’s historic T20 World Cup 2024 triumph. Notably, India beat South Africa by seven runs in the summit clash on Saturday, June 29 at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados.
Bumrah once again played a pivotal role with the ball for the Men in Blue by picking 2/18 in four overs dismissing Reeza Hendricks (4 off 5) and Marco Jansen (2 off 4). Courtesy of his and other seam bowlers’ marvellous performance, India managed to pull things back and choked the South African batting despite them requiring just 30 runs from 30 balls.

“And to my husband, the epitome of resilience, hard work and brilliance, you deserve the sun, the moon and the stars in the sky. Everything you’ve been through, all the work you’ve put in, the fight you fight everyday to get better everyday is inspirational,” wrote Sanjana in his Instagram post.
“Angad and I are so lucky to call you ours! Congratulations, this is just the beginning âäï¸ As an Indian, as a wife, as a broadcaster and as a mother, this is a core memory. I’m going to hold this close to my heart for a very, very long time âäï¸,” she added.

The India speedster was also adjudged Player of the Tournament for his marvellous bowling throughout the event. He became just the second Indian to win the coveted award after Virat Kohli who won it twice in back-to-back editions of 2014 and 2016. The 30-year-old finished as the second-highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 15 wickets to his name from eight innings at an average of 8.46 and an economy of 4.17.
The Ahmedabad-born cricketer registered the lowest economy by a bowler in the history of T20 World Cup edition. Bumrah’s best bowling performance of the tournament came against Afghanistan as he picked 3/7 in four overs. The speedster won two Player of the Match awards against Ireland (2/6, 3 overs) and Pakistan (3/14, 4 overs). In an era of fearless batting and massive sixes, Bumrah has stood tall as the only seamer to instill fear in the mind of batters.
