Jude Bellingham wants to write his own history with Real Madrid by lifting the European Cup at Wembley.

England star Bellingham, 20, says the club’s incredible record in the Champions League is an inspiration as he looks to finish his first season in Spain in remarkable style.

Bellingham has won La Liga, been voted the league’s Player of the Year after scoring 20 goals and has taken the Bernabeu by storm ahead of their showdown with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.

‌Real Madrid are the most successful club in the competition’s history after lifting the trophy 14 times and Bellingham says the current team feel they can beat any opponent if they play at their best.

‌Bellingham said: “It’s the reason I’m here. It’s a dream firstly to play for this club, to score for this club and to win the league. The club is synonymous with the Champions League. It’s something you see every day because you walk in the door and you see pictures of players holding the trophy and smiling.

“That’s all you want really - you want to mark your own part of history with the club. We have that chance on Saturday and we have to take it for what it is. It’s important we play at our level. If we pay at our maximum level then it’s difficult for a lot of teams to beat us.

“But we have to be aware of their qualities. They play with speed, defend really well and I’m sure our staff will do a great job to analyse what we need to do to win the game and I trust them 100 per cent. It’s about following the game plan and executing it well.”

Bellingham admits that he has felt emotional in the build-up to the final but will look again to his family - including his younger brother Jobe - for support. They supported him in the semi final win over Bayern Munich in the Bernabeu and expects them to be out in force again.

He said: “It’s a very special game for me. Maybe it’ll be emotional in the build-up but I think it’s important that I try and take the emotion away from the game and play like it is.

“It’s been a very good first season. I’ve had so much help from the staff and the players. They’ve made it really easy and really fun, which is most important.

“My family was there for that game (the semi final). I always look out for where my family are because it’s important to feel they are with me when we are at home. My brother was there for the first time in the Bernabeu and I got him on FaceTime, managed to get my Dad on the TV so happy days!”

Bellingham spent three years at Borussia Dortmund and will face his former club in the final, including former team mate Jason Sancho. It is a chance for Sancho to prove a point with Dortmund as his move to Manchester United did not go well and he finds himself back at his old club on loan.

Bellingham added: “I’ve not been speaking with them this week. When we got through, I got a message from Sancho and just said: ‘I’ll see you there’ and all those kind of things.

"Jadon is someone who took me under his wing when I first arrived at Dortmund, he’s a really good guy, someone who I have a lot of time for and has helped me a lot.”
