The film has achieved a huge feat and following 'Baahubali', this is one of Prabhas' films that made more than Rs 1000 crore at the box office.With the release of Kamal Haasan's 'Bharateeyudu 2', it was expected that the film might face a slow turnover, however with the other film not receiving much impact, it is likely that 'Kalki 2898 AD' will rule the theatres in the third week of its release as well. Set in a dystopian post apocalyptic era, the movie talks about the immortal Ashwatthama and how he protects the birth of lord VIshnu's 10th avatar Kalki in the Kali Yuga. The film also depicts the incarnation of Karna, Yaskin - whose power intensifies to a level where he lifts the Gandhiva bow of Arjuna aftercomsumint a drop of serum produced by Kalki when in womb.The movie also has many references to the Hindu mythology including Parasuram played by Dulquer Salmaan. The rest of the film's cast included Vijay Devarakonda, Krishna Kumar, Disha Patani, Mrunal Thakur, Shobana, Pasupathy, Anna Ben, Ram Gopal Varma and SS Rajamouli in extended cameo roles. The music for the film is composed by Santhosh Narayanan.This film marks the first of Kalki cinematic universe and the pre-production work tof the sequel os yet to begin and is likely to hit the theatres after a gap of 4 years.
