On Monday, a community health officer from Hunsur tauk, Nagendra, was the first dengue fatality in the district.
The boy, identified as Chirayi Hosamani from Shirahatti district, was allegedly made to wait for treatment at GIMS hospital as ICU had no vacancies.His parents said, "We took him to a private hospital in Dharwad on Friday, but his platelet count was dangerously low to recover.
"Gadag DC Govind Reddy said the boy was referred from Shirahatti taluk hospital on July 2, but his parents brought him to GIMS after a two days.
"If doctors are found guilty, we will take action," he added.Mysuru district in-charge minister HC Mahadevappa directed authorities to intensify measures to bring down the dengue cases.
