Kartik Aaryan’s relatives die in Ghatkopar hoarding collapse, actor attends funeral

Actor Kartik Aaryan’s relatives Manoj Chansoria and Anita Chansoria were among the 16 people who died in the hoarding collapse in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar area on Monday. The couple was in Mumbai to get visa as for the United States, where their son Yash resides. As per a report by The Indian Express, Manoj, 60, retired as Air Traffic Control (ATC) general manager in March. Actor Kartik Aaryan’s relatives Manoj Chansoria and Anita Chansoria were among the 16 people who died in the hoarding collapse in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar area on Monday. Their bodies were recovered two days later on Wednesday in ‘almost decomposed’ state. The couple was in Mumbai to get visa as for the United States, where their son Yash resides. Their bodies were found after their son realised that their phones were out of reach and contacted local friends and authorities.

The last rites of the couple took place in Mumbai and were also attended by Kartik. As per a report by The Indian Express, Manoj, 60, retired as Air Traffic Control (ATC) general manager in March. He was visiting Mumbai from Madhya Pradesh with wife Anita, 59. Manoj’s phone went out of reach on Monday afternoon and soon, Yash contacted his father’s former colleagues in the city to help him in tracing them. Manoj had been stationed in Mumbai for a year before his retirement. Manoj’s colleagues, along with Mumbai Police, managed to track their phone and found their last location to be in Ghatkopar near the Eastern Express Highway.

Watch Advertisement The couple’s bodies were found in their car which was squashed under a 250-tonne hoarding that was knocked down by thunderous winds. “As soon as he realised that his parents were missing on Monday, their son boarded a flight from the United States. Their final rites were conducted at a crematorium in Sahar on Thursday,” a family friend shared with The Indian Express. One of the officials told the publication that their car was “almost flattened due to the weight and pressure of the girder.” They had to cut the car doors and the roof to extract the remains of the two victims, which were “almost decomposed.” 16 people died in the incident where an illegal hoarding sized 120×120 feet collapsed on the road. The permitted size of the hoarding was 40×40 feet. The police has arrested Bhavesh Prabhudas Bhinde, the owner of the hoarding that crashed from Udaipur.
