Only Ernakulam district is placed under orange alert on Sunday.
A yellow alert is sounded in seven districts- Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad.
People living in low-lying areas, where waterlogging occurs regularly, should move to relief camps after assessing the rain situation, it said.
Due to the possibility of strong winds, people who live in dilapidated houses should also move to safer places, it said.

Rainfall ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm is expected in this district within 24 hours. The state is expected to receive widespread rain till June 6 as the southwest monsoon will intensify in the coming days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned.

A cyclonic circulation is present in the Southeast Arabian Sea near south Kerala, and a high-level cyclonic trough has formed over Sri Lanka in the Bay of Bengal. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Center has also warned of wind speeds reaching up to 55 km/h today in the state.
Kottayam recorded the highest rainfall on the first day of the monsoon, with 80.2 mm, which is 537 per cent above the average for the district.
In view of the weather warnings, the state Disaster Management Authority cautioned people against the possible threats of landslides and mudslides in hilly areas and urged them to shift to safer places if necessary. People living in low-lying areas, where waterlogging occurs regularly, should move to relief camps after assessing the rain situation, it said. Due to the possibility of strong winds, people who live in dilapidated houses should also move to safer places, it said. Night travel through the hilly areas should be avoided completely, the authority added.
