While Lele’s work often references her background as a woman of colour and her British-Indian heritage, her Spring/Summer 24 collection was inspired by the designer’s personal memories, a childhood growing up in India during the holidays, observing the draped saris on the elders in her family, the lilac colours of her friend’s lipsticks, and green eyeshadows.

Removing the sari from a colonial lens by abandoning the blouse that is traditionally worn with it and establishing a new identity of hyper-femininity utilising Noughties aesthetics was the starting point of her collection. The collection ranged from sheer dresses and two-piece sets that were a deconstructed take on the drapes of a sari to leather jackets made with offcuts from Bentley Motors to protect the Lele girls from freezing over in the London cold.
