Leopard hides behind grass as prey approaches. Spine-chilling attack caught on camera

Merwe van Niekerk, a dentist, filmed the incredible video capturing the plot the leopard crafted that ultimately led the warthog to walk right into his trap. Lunch was literally walking right towards it,” Merwe told Latest Sightings. The leopard, after spotting its prey, hid behind a patch of grass as the warthogs proceeded towards him, absolutely oblivious to his presence. After the big hunt, the leopard dragged the warthog’s body across the road and disappeared into the bushes. Although Merwe made multiple trips to Kruger, he asserted while speaking to Latest Sightings that “a perfect leopard ambush is usually only something you dream of being able to see.

A warthog’s deadly encounter with a leopard was recorded by a man at the Kruger National Park in South Africa as the footage of the scenario will send a chill down your spine. Merwe van Niekerk, a dentist, filmed the incredible video capturing the plot the leopard crafted that ultimately led the warthog to walk right into his trap.

Warthog is a wild member of the pig family (Suidae) found in grasslands, savanna, and woodland in sub-Saharan Africa.

The scene unfolded near a camping spot as recounted by Merwe, who shared the video of the incident with Latest Sightings: “The roads were dead quiet, and we saw hardly any animals for a while. Then, my wife said something caught her eye, and thought it might have been a leopard.”

It’s true, as there was a “beautiful” leopard in the vicinity, as were some warthogs – just that the latter were unaware of what fate had in store for them. “The warthogs had no idea of the danger just ahead of them. The leopard, on the other hand, couldn’t believe its luck. Lunch was literally walking right towards it,” Merwe told Latest Sightings.

The leopard, after spotting its prey, hid behind a patch of grass as the warthogs proceeded towards him, absolutely oblivious to his presence. Soon after, though, one of the warthogs stopped and probably decided to scan the surroundings, but eventually ignored his “gut feeling”: “the last mistake it ever made.”

In a moment, the leopard launched a brutal attack and killed the warthog in an inevitable move. After the big hunt, the leopard dragged the warthog’s body across the road and disappeared into the bushes.

Spine-chilling, indeed.

Although Merwe made multiple trips to Kruger, he asserted while speaking to Latest Sightings that “a perfect leopard ambush is usually only something you dream of being able to see. I still can’t believe I managed to catch it all on film.”
