Lok Sabha elections: Congress distributing mall coupons to woo Bengaluru Rural voters, says H D Kumaraswamy; BJP getting desperate, says D K Shivakumar

Voting is underway in 14 constituencies of Karnataka, including Bengaluru Rural, in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections on April 26, Friday, while the remaining 14 constituencies of the state will go to polls on May 7.

According to a source, the Congress was distributing Rs 10,000-worth gift coupons of a popular mall in which Suresh’s brother and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar’s family has stakes.

The Election Commission of India has failed to conduct elections in a transparent manner, Kumaraswamy added.

Shivakumar, however, rubbished the allegations and said that they (Congress workers) were distributing manifesto cards. “They (BJP) have turned desperate. I know what they are distributing. Using Munirathna (BJP MLA of R R Nagar), they are distributing gold cards. We are distributing manifesto cards.”

BJP on X said that after getting to know that the public will not budge to the Goondagiri, D K brothers are distributing gift coupons in Kanakapura. They were earlier threatening people but now they have realised that people are not caring to those tactics. They are now luring the people,” the post read.

BJP candidate Dr Manjunath is the son-in-law of former prime minister H D Deve Gowda.
