The alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall has been issued for the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Sundargarh.
Districts of Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Angul, and Dhenkanal are also likely to experience heavy rainfall today.
Low pressure update: IMD predicts heavy to very heavy rainfall in some Odisha districts
Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal, a Low-Pressure area has formed over the Northwest Bay of Bengal off the north Odisha coast. It is likely to move north-westwards during the next two days, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday.
Several parts of Odisha are experiencing enhanced rainfall activities under its impact. There are also reports of heavy rainfall in some districts of the state as well.
The IMD on Saturday issued a yellow warning for heavy to very heavy and heavy rainfall in 9 districts of Odisha today. The alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall has been issued for the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Sundargarh.
Districts of Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Angul, and Dhenkanal are also likely to experience heavy rainfall today.
"Squally weather with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40 to 50 kmph is likely over northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast till 30th June 2024. Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea off Odisha coast and northwest Bay of Bengal till 30th June 2024," said IMD.
