Man United brace for £51m transfer blow as Jadon Sancho value plummets

More infoManchester United's first team squad have returned to first team training today and that has brought into focus the future of England international winger Jadon Sancho. Great performance from Dortmund and for Jadon it's good news, he made his contribution to the result for Dortmund," Ten Hag said. But we know Jadon Sancho is a fantastic football player, so that is not a surprise for us. In October 2021, just months after he had signed for United from Dortmund, Sancho was valued at £76m. However, the same website now value Sancho at just £25m, with two-and-a-half underwhelming seasons at the club forcing his market value to plummet.

Manchester United's first team squad have returned to first team training today and that has brought into focus the future of England international winger Jadon Sancho.

Sancho fell out with United manager Erik ten Hag last season after he publicly responded to the Dutchman after comments about his performance levels in training.

Ten Hag banished him from first team training as a result and the matter has not yet been resolved. Sancho is yet to apologise and, until he does, his future at Old Trafford remains bleak.

The 24-year-old rejoined Borussia Dortmund on loan in January and enjoyed an impressive return to Germany, helping Die Schwarzgelben reach the UEFA Champions League final.

Ten Hag acknowledged a particularly impressive performance from Sancho in the Champions League quarter-final against Atletico Madrid but made it plainly clear that Sancho's ability was 'not the issue'.

"It was a fantastic game - Dortmund against Atletico Madrid. Great performance from Dortmund and for Jadon it's good news, he made his contribution to the result for Dortmund," Ten Hag said.

"No [nothing has changed]. But we know Jadon Sancho is a fantastic football player, so that is not a surprise for us. That is not the issue."

And with Ten Hag signing a new contract with United, it means Sancho will almost certainly be moved on this summer but they will have to accept they will be making a significant loss on a player who cost them £75 million three years ago.

In fact, according to Transfermarkt, Sancho's market value has dropped by around £51m. In October 2021, just months after he had signed for United from Dortmund, Sancho was valued at £76m.

However, the same website now value Sancho at just £25m, with two-and-a-half underwhelming seasons at the club forcing his market value to plummet.

CIES believe United can recoup a fee of £33-45million for Sancho, who has two years remaining on his contract with the club, but even if they can squeeze out the maximum value for the former Man City youngster, they are still looking at a £30m loss for a player who was seen as one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's marquee signings.
