Underlining that the bond of ‘one parivar’ striving for India’s success remained unbroken, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday asked social media users to remove ‘Modi Ka Parivar’ from their profiles. He said the message of “all of us being one family” had been effectively conveyed.

Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, BJP leaders and supporters had suffixed the phrase, meaning We are Modi’s family, to their social media handles to show solidarity with the PM. This was after RJD leader Lalu Prasad, in response to the BJP’s attack on dynastic politics, said he could not do anything if Modi had “no Parivar of his own”.

Responding to Lalu’s attack, Modi had said: “I question their dynastic politics, they say Modi does not have a family, my life is an open book…I will live for my country.” Advertisement Also Read | What Modi 3.0 means for New India Tuesday, nearly a week after the NDA won the Lok Sabha election and he secured a rare third term as PM, Modi Modi wrote on X: “Through the election campaign, people across India added ‘Modi Ka Parivar’ to their social media as a mark of affection towards me. I derived a lot of strength from it. The people of India have given the NDA a majority for the third consecutive time, a record of sorts, and have given us the mandate to keep working for the betterment of our nation”. “With the message of all of us being one family having been effectively conveyed, I would once again thank the people of India and request that you may now remove ‘Modi Ka Parivar’ from your social media properties. The display name may change, but our bond as one Parivar striving for India’s progress remains strong and unbroken,” the PM wrote. The ‘Modi Ka Parivar’ campaign was on the lines of the ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ slogan popularised by the BJP ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The slogan, which BJP supporters added to their social media handles, was a reaction to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s coining the phrase ‘Chowkidar chor hai’ (the watchman is the thief) to target the PM.
