New Maruti Car Coming Before The Updated Dzire

Earlier this month, Maruti launched the much-awaited new-gen Swift in India. The Swift doesn’t come with anything revolutionary, with the brand trying more to fine-tune a working formula. One major change is the updated Swift comes with a new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine. Now, next up the brand could introduce a CNG option with this engine. Let’s talk about the new Maruti car.

CNG coming

The new 1.2-litre Z12E naturally aspirated engine powering the new Swift is yet to be introduced with a CNG setup. Maruti is currently working on it and it is expected to come in the next few months. Like all CNG cars, the pure CNG mode will have slightly lower power and torque figures. Also, it will only be available with a manual gearbox option. The CNG setup is expected to give high mileage, probably in the range of 30 to 32 km/kg.

On the exterior, we don’t expect any major changes barring some CNG badging. In the interiors, there would be no changes, barring the compromised boot space. Maruti should also try something like Tata to open up boot space.

New Maruti car – Launch and pricing

As stated above, the Swift is expected to be launched in the next few months. It could be launched before the Dzire as CNG is very important for Maruti. What about the pricing? We can expect it to be Rs 90,000-Rs 95,000 more expensive than similarly specced petrol variants. Currently, the pricing of the Swift starts from Rs 7.67 lakh and goes to Rs 11.32 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). The Swift CNG will rival the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios CNG and Tata Tiago CNG.
