Pune, 8th July 2024: Following heavy rains in the Mumbai metropolitan area over the past 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a five-day rain warning for various districts in Maharashtra. A red alert has been declared for Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Satara, and Pune districts, urging residents to exercise caution. Additionally, an orange alert is in place for Palghar, Thane, Ratnagiri, and Raigad districts.
Chances of Heavy Rain in Konkan Today
IMD forecasts indicate the likelihood of heavy rainfall in parts of Konkan today, with a red alert specifically issued for Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, and Satara districts. IMD has warned that some areas may experience rainfall exceeding 205 mm.
Furthermore, an orange alert is in effect for Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, and Raigad districts, accompanied by wind speeds reaching 50 to 60 km per hour and potential lightning strikes.
