Director-producer Rajan Shahi has been making headlines ever since he terminated lead actors Shehzada Dhami and Pratiksha Honmukhe from his show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai in March.
During the conversation, Rajan Shahi also revisited the termination of Hina Khan from the show.
Rajan said there were hundreds of incidents that caused friction and unpleasantness, prompting the channel to hold a meeting with Hina and Rajan.

Director-producer Rajan Shahi has been making headlines ever since he terminated lead actors Shehzada Dhami and Pratiksha Honmukhe from his show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai in March. Recently, Rajan spoke at length to Telly Talk India about their removal, sharing that Pratiksha had begun throwing tantrums at the production unit and even walked out of the show when the director asked her to do a scene in a certain way. During the conversation, Rajan Shahi also revisited the termination of Hina Khan from the show. While he praised Hina for her hard work during their six-year collaboration on the show, he mentioned that issues with her arose in the last few months leading up to her eventual departure.

Sharing details on Hina’s termination, Rajan said the timings had become a problem, and he even mentioned that Hina used to interfere with the script. Rajan said there were hundreds of incidents that caused friction and unpleasantness, prompting the channel to hold a meeting with Hina and Rajan. Although they mutually agreed to part ways amicably, Rajan explained that issues worsened thereafter.
Recalling an incident Rajan said, “One day, the shoot was going on and Hina didn’t want to say some lines that were in support of Shivangi Joshi’s character Naira. There was a certain level of script interference where Hina refused to say those lines. That day I told her she would have to do the scene as it was, when she didn’t agree I told her to either shoot or leave the set.” Rajan further narrated that she sat in the makeup room the whole day, and at night when she left the set, she was messaged that her services were terminated and that she need not come on set anymore. However, the next day she came and shot the scene as it had been written, but Rajan was done with her and so at pack up she was informed that the association couldn’t continue anymore.

Rajan even shared that he scrapped those six scenes that Hin Khan had shot with Shivangi on that day. The producer also said that after Hina’s exit, the team took three days and rebooted the entire way of functioning and that drastically spiked the show’s TRP too.
