Ronald Koeman has had another pop at Barcelona and says he was not afforded the same patience as Xavi when he was in charge.
The Dutchman has already taken aim at the club over Frenkie de Jong’s injury while at Euro 2024 and has now had another little dig at the Catalans.
Koeman was asked by El Mundo if he felt Barca were more patient with Xavi than him and offered up the following response.
I did not receive the same support from the president as Xavi received.
“I have spoken regularly with him about many things and I believe that he is happy at Barcelona and does not want to leave,” he added.

The Dutchman has already taken aim at the club over Frenkie de Jong’s injury while at Euro 2024 and has now had another little dig at the Catalans.
Koeman was asked by El Mundo if he felt Barca were more patient with Xavi than him and offered up the following response.
“Yes, I already said it. I did not receive the same support from the president as Xavi received. At that moment they fired me I think we were nine points behind Madrid. And now they are down to ten. To be successful you have to have the support of the president,” he said.
The Netherlands coach also spoke about De Jong again and said he’s happy at the club but has been hindered by his injury problems this season.
“I have spoken regularly with him about many things and I believe that he is happy at Barcelona and does not want to leave,” he added. “Injuries have affected his level in recent months, of course, I think he was not 100% to play against PSG and Real Madrid in the last games of the season, but he needs time to be at his highest level.”
De Jong’s since been ruled out of Euro 2024 because of his ankle injury, with Barca hoping he will be fit and firing by the team pre-season rolls around.
