New Delhi: The Congress is preparing a new strategy in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi to challenge actor Kangana Ranaut , who is the BJP candidate in the Lok Sabha constituency.
The party, sources said, wants to field state minister Vikramaditya Singh , son of former chief minister Virbhadra Singh and state Congress chief, to contest against the Bollywood actor.
Earlier, Pratibha Singh, sitting MP from Mandi and state Congress chief, had reportedly told the party leadership that she does not want to contest the polls.
The party, however, had made a proposal to the Congress leader to contest again in the Lok Sabha polls.

"According to Congress's internal survey, Vikramaditya Singh figured better candidate in the constituency," the source said.
Kangana Ranaut Had Once Said That She Ate Beef: Congress Leader
Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar on Friday sparked a row after he alleged that the Bollywood actor had once said that she ate beef.
Reacting to the remark, a spokesperson of the Maharashtra BJP said it reflected the Congress' "dirty culture".
Speaking at a rally, Wadettiwar, the leader of opposition in the state assembly, claimed that Ranaut had written on Twitter (now X) that she liked and ate beef, and the BJP has now given her a ticket for the Lok Sabha elections.
He also claimed that the BJP was welcoming all corrupt leaders.
When asked for reaction, BJP spokesperson Keshav Upadhye said, "This reflects Congress' dirty culture. It cannot fight us on issues. This shows the party's defeatist mentality."

Himachal Pradesh Congress general secretary Rajneesh Kimta asked the BJP candidate from the Mandi parliamentary seat "to name one thing that she has done for the constituency from where she is contesting".
"Is the BJP cadre happy with the announcement of Kangana's name? Has the state leadership suggested her name or was she chosen by the Centre?" he asked and claimed that there is "opposition" to her within the BJP.
He also hit out at Ranaut for claiming that Vikramaditya Singh was not from Mandi, he asked BJP leaders to improve her political knowledge about the constituency.
"Vikramaditya Singh is from the Rampur assembly constituency which falls under the Mandi Lok Sabha seat," he said and alleged that the actor-turned-politician is not even aware of the 17 assembly segments falling under her constituency.
