Russia says intercepted over 100 drones overnight

The attack resulted in power cutoffs in the city of Sevastopol and caused a refinery to catch fire in southern Russia , as reported by Russian authorities.The drone attack were a response from Kyiv to retaliate against Moscow's actions in northeastern Ukraine .This further intensified the pressure on the outnumbered and outgunned Ukrainian forces, who are eagerly awaiting delayed deliveries of essential weapons and ammunition from their Western allies.The Russian Defence Ministry reported that 51 Ukrainian drones were shot down over Crimea, 44 over the Krasnodar region, and six over the Belgorod region. Russian warplanes and patrol boats were also responsible for destroying six sea drones in the Black Sea .Mikhail Razvozhayev, who is the governor of Sevastopol, mentioned that the drone attack caused damage to the city's power plant. He stated that it might take a day to completely restore energy supplies and alerted residents about potential power cuts in certain areas of the city."Communal services are doing their best to restore the power system as quickly as possible," he said in a statement.Razvozhayev announced that schools in the city will be temporarily closed.Earlier, Ukrainian attacks caused damage to aircraft and a fuel storage facility at Belbek air base near Sevastopol. It has become a focal point in the recent days of fighting. Around 8,000 civilians have been evacuated from the town by Ukrainian authorities. The typical strategy of the Russian army involves destroying towns and villages through aerial strikes before their units advance.Russia has been conducting tests on defenses at various points along the approximately 1,000-kilometer front line that stretches from north to south across eastern Ukraine. This front line has remained almost unchanged for the last 18 months, evolving into a war of attrition.Recent Russian attacks have occurred in multiple regions of Ukraine, including the eastern Donetsk region, the Chernihiv and Sumy regions in the north, and the southern Zaporizhzhia region.
