Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has reacted to actor Adil Hussain‘s statement on regretting being a part of his film Kabir Singh.
Not only Adil, Sandeep had slammed Parvathy Thiruvothu and Javed Akhtar for criticising Animal as well.
In an appearance on the YouTube channel AP Podcast, Adil admitted that he agreed to do Kabir Singh without reading the script first.

Adil said that Kabir Singh is a “misogynist” film that made him “feel small as a human being”.

Sandeep took to social media and shamed Adil for talking against the 2019 Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani blockbuster, where he played the role of a professor. Sandeep said that he’d replace Adil’s face in the movie with “AI help”.
Sandeep wrote on X, “Ur ‘belief’ in 30 art films didn’t get as much fame to u as ur ‘regret’ of 1 BLOCKBUSTER film did 👏.” He added, “I regret casting u (you), knwing (knowing) that ur (your) greed is bigger than ur (your) passion. NOW I’ll save U (you) from the shame by replacing Ur (your) face with AI help👍 Now smile properly 🙂.”

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s tweet is receiving quite a bit of flak on social media with people calling it a “personal attack” on Adil Hussain. He is also being called out for not being able to handle criticism in a healthy way. However, Adil too is being criticised for his comments. Not only Adil, Sandeep had slammed Parvathy Thiruvothu and Javed Akhtar for criticising Animal as well.
In an appearance on the YouTube channel AP Podcast, Adil admitted that he agreed to do Kabir Singh without reading the script first. The actor said, “That’s the only film in my life that I have done without reading the script, without seeing the movie which it is based on.” Adil said that he went to watch the film in a theatre after the release and walked out in 20 minutes. “I regret it till today. The only movie I have regretted doing is that film… Kabir Singh,” he added.
Adil said that Kabir Singh is a “misogynist” film that made him “feel small as a human being”. Speaking about director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Adil said that everyone has the right to make the kind of the film they want to, but that doesn’t mean he has to agree with them. “I think a film like this, it celebrates something which is not beneficial for the society. It legitimises male misogyny. It legitimizes violence against anybody for that matter, doesn’t have to be a woman. And it celebrates it, it glorifies it and it should not be glorified,” he said.
