Aamir Khan’s son, Junaid Khan, is gearing up for his acting debut on screen with the film Maharaj set to premiere exclusively on Netflix. The streaming giant recently announced the film’s release date along with its teaser poster on social media.

According to Netflix’s official handle, “Maharaj” revolves around the clash between a powerful man and a fearless journalist, inspired by true events. The film is scheduled for release on 14 June, exclusively on Netflix.

Maharaj produced by Yash Raj Films features Junaid Khan alongside actors Jaideep Ahlawat, Sharvari Wagh, and Shalini Pandey. The storyline draws inspiration from the 1862 Maharaja Libel Case.

In the film, Junaid portrays the character of Karsandas Mulji, a journalist and social reformer known for advocating women’s rights and social change.

He was a student at Elphinstone College in Mumbai and was mentored by scholar-leader Dadabhai Naoroji. Mulji’s writings on widow remarriage and his efforts to uplift the oppressed were instrumental in sparking societal reform.

However, certain Hindu organizations have expressed concern about the film, alleging that it portrays Hindu saints in a negative light. They are particularly aggrieved by the labeling of a leader of the Vallabha sect as a sex maniac.

Aamir Khan is also facing criticism for launching his son in a film that allegedly tarnishes the image of Hindu saints.
