Following this fantastic result, Monank Patel's men pulled off the upset of the tournament so far when they defeated Pakistan in the Super Over. The USA can reach the Super Eight stage if they win at least one of their two remaining matches against India and Ireland.
India, on the other hand, are comfortably sitting atop Group A after winning their first two games against Ireland and Pakistan. While the Ireland game saw the inaugural champions winning comprehensively by eight wickets, chasing a paltry target of 97 runs, they had to toil hard in their second encounter against their arch-rivals Pakistan. The Men in Blue defended a 120-run target commendably and won by six runs.
