Despite naming a strong squad, Sri Lanka failed to make any mark in the ongoing T20 World Cup. The Wanindu Hasaranga-led side was considered one of the favourites to qualify from Group D, which also features South Africa, Bangladesh, Netherlands and Nepal but Sri Lanka struggled massively with the bat, resulting in them not winning any matches so far.
Against Netherlands on June 17 at St Lucia, Sri Lanka would aim to pick up their maiden victory and give their fans something to cheer about. Pathum Nissanka has done well with the bat but others need to pick their socks up. Kusal Mendis needs to live up to the expectations while Dhananjaya de Silva and Charith Asalanka should have capitalised on their starts with the bat in the last couple of matches. Hasaranga’s captaincy too needs to be reviewed after the tournament.
Netherlands, meanwhile, have won one out of their three matches so far. They can still qualify for the Super 8 but to do so the Scott Edwards-led side needs to pick up a humongous win and then will have to wait for Bangladesh’s game. It looks nearly impossible for Netherlands but it has been a World Cup full of surprises. If nothing, they would want to put up a strong fight against a Test-playing nation.

SL vs NED Probable Best Performers -
Probable Best Batter of the match
Pathum Nissanka has done well so far and against Netherlands, he would fancy scoring more. However, the opener needs to be cautious as Netherlands usually pick wickets with the new ball. If Nissanka manages to find a good start, he will be a difficult player to stop.
Probable Best Bowler of the match
Logan van Beek has picked up five wickets in three matches so far in the competition. He is very effective in the middle overs and can bother the Lankan batters, especially when they are struggling with the form.
