The matches in the US were conducted by an entity called T20 World Cup Inc. which had built a modular stadium which was dismantled after the World Cup.

A senior official of the International Cricket Council (ICC), who was closely involved in organising the T20 World Cup in the US and the West Indies, has resigned. This resignation, coming as it does immediately after the World Cup and just about a week before the ICC's annual conference in Colombo, is believed to be related to the World Cup's conduct. The ICC did not respond to a query about the resignation at the time of reporting.
The exact reason for the exit of the official is not known but there was a lot of scrutiny of the matches in the US leg of the World Cup, particularly the games held in New York. The drop-in pitches used for the games in New York were extremely difficult for the batters to score on and there was a lot of criticism of the surfaces there. Many members of the ICC were priming to raise the issue at the Colombo conclave, scheduled from July 19 to 22.
In the eight matches played at the Nassau County International Stadium, the highest total scored there was 137 for seven (Canada versus Ireland) and the highest successful chase was 111 for three (by India against US). The highly-anticipated India-Pakistan contest too ended up being a low-scoring affair with India defending 119.
The Indian team did not comment on the nature of the pitches stating that the conditions were equal for all teams but fours and sixes are generally expected from the Twenty20 games. But the way the drop-in pitches were behaving, rather misbehaving, big shots were not easy. At one stage, the ICC issued a statement, saying, "T20 Inc and the ICC recognise that the pitches used so far at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium have not played as consistently as we would have all wanted.
"The world-class grounds team have been working hard since the conclusion of yesterday's game to remedy the situation and deliver the best possible surfaces for the remaining matches."
