In the video, Trump asked an off-camera group, “How did I do with the debate the other night?” before forecasting that Biden would not seek re-election.
“He just quit, you know – he’s quitting the race,” Trump stated. “I got him out of the – and that means we have Kamala.”
There have been speculation that Joe Biden might step down following his shaky performance during the first presidential debate last week. While the White House and most Democrats insist that Biden will remain the party’s nominee, recent voter polls indicate he has fallen six points behind Trump. Some suggest that Vice President Kamala Harris could be a stronger Democratic candidate come November.
“I think she’s gonna be better” as an opponent, Trump continued, but then added, “She’s so bad. She’s so pathetic” and seemingly said, “She’s so f****** bad.”
Meanwhile, Biden’s campaign has denied any plans for him to step down. “Absolutely not,” affirmed White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Wednesday. Several Democratic governors echoed the sentiment with the phrase “in it to win it” after meeting with Biden.
Trump's campaign stood by his words, with co-campaign manager Chris LaCivita tweeting, "Nothing in this video is incorrect."

“Can you imagine that guy dealing with Putin?” Trump questioned. “And the president of China – who’s a fierce person. He’s a fierce man, very tough guy. And they see him.”
