After showcasing his craftsmanship in biopics like 'Bose: Dead/Alive' and 'Shahid,' Rajkummar Rao is once again ready to bring reality on reel with ‘Srikanth.’ Director Tushar Hiranandani in an exclusive interview with ETimes, shed light on casting Rajkummar Rao in the biopic ‘Srikanth,’ narrating the inspiring journey of visually-impaired industrialist Srikanth Bolla."When we decided to make Srikanth, we had zeroed down on Rajkummar," Tushar Hiranandani shared. "Pulling off a role like this is very tough, and we knew that Rajkummar was the only person who could do it," he added.He emphasized the meticulous efforts taken to ensure authenticity, stating, "I make sure that the character looks as similar as the real person." Tushar revealed Rao's immersive approach to the role, mentioning, "Raj sat with Srikanth and the young boy who plays the young Srikanth in the film as well. All the visually impaired people that you see in the film are visually impaired in real life too. So, Raj had to look as real as he could. I put my actors in a position to challenge themselves, and Raj has performed well.”Regarding Rao's commitment to the project, the director remarked, "Raj loved the story, and he wanted to do it immediately. It was challenging for him, and he loves taking up challenges like this."Reflecting on his inclination towards biopics, Tushar Hiranandani expressed his passion for portraying real-life stories with cinematic flair. "I enjoy making biopics and subjects based on real people," he stated. "I like to put some masala in the reality. I enjoy presenting them as heroes because they are heroes as it is in real life."The movie is releasing on May 10, 2024.
