Scotland opener George Munsey picked out Nathan Ellis at deep midwicket during the ninth over of the innings against Australia in the final Group B match of the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup.

Turning up for his country at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium on June 16, the cricketer shared a fiery 89-run partnership with number three Brendon McMullen for the third wicket, before trying to go big against Maxwell costed him dearly at the halfway stage of the Scotland innings.

Attacking Scotland opener George Munsey launched three sixes and a couple of boundaries against Australia after the early dismissal of his opening partner Michael Jones. The 31-year-old himself cracked 35 runs from just 23 balls and shared an 89-run stand with number three Brandon McMullen to take his team near the 100-run mark.

While Munsey slog swept Maxwell towards the leg side boundary for a huge six during the ninth over of the Australian innings, an attempt to dispatch the Australian spinner once again towards the same region proved too costly for the well-set batter, as he found an agile Nathan Ellis around the deep midwicket area.

George Munsey’s wicket at 92-2 in nine overs was followed by fiery cameos from captain Richie Berrington (42* off 31 balls) and wicketkeeper-batter Matthew Cross (18 off 11 balls) in the death overs as Scotland posted a competitive 180-5 batting first. Brandon McMullen himself top-scored in the innings through his attacking 34-ball 60, an innings that featured two boundaries and six sixes.
