You don't often see MS Dhoni change his expressions whenever he is caught on camera. However, on Sunday, during CSK's IPL 2024 clash against Mumbai Indians, he could not resist himself from applauding while watching Ruturaj Gaikwad's batting from the dressing room at Wankhede Stadium, where he hit the winning runs in the final of the 2011 World Cup against Sri Lanka.
Gaikwad replaced Dhoni as CSK's skipper just before the start of the IPL 2024. And the young opener did not disappoint ever since his leadership duties. And the way he smashed a shot against young MI pacer Akash Madhwal during the 15th over of MI's innings left even Dhoni in awe.
Gaikwad’s tremendous bat speed was visible when he came down the track to clear the boundary ropes against Madhwal. The timing was so exquisite that it sailed over tall Romario Shepherd’s head for a half-a-dozen.
