Explosive English batter Phil Salt had a memorable outing in Kolkata Knight Riders' ongoing IPL 2024 clash against Punjab Kings, smashing a blistering fifty.

However, he missed out on a much-deserved century as Punjab's stand-in captain Sam Curran cleaned him up with a toe-crushing yorker.

The incident occurred during the 13th over of KKR's innings when Salt was all over Curran and his troops.

Curran had a poor start to the over, with the keeper-batter hammering him for two successive sixes.

However, the famed bowling all-rounder made a remarkable comeback, uprooting Salt's off stump with a yorker.

While trying for a yorker, Curran ended up delivering two balls in the slot as Salt dispatched them disdainfully into the stands. However, he corrected his mistake in his third attempt, castling the batter with an inch-perfect yorker.

After getting out, Salt was disappointed with himself as he slammed his head in anger while making his way back to the dugout.

Riding on scintillating knocks from Narine and Salt, KKR had a dream start to their innings. After Salt's departure, the hosts promoted swashbuckling batter Andre Russell to ensure a fitting finish for them.

As of writing, KKR were 176 for two in 14 overs, with Russell and Venkatesh Iyer unbeaten in the middle.
