Somerset number three Tom Kohler-Cadmore, who holds a staggering T20 strike-rate of nearly 140, was dismissed for a sluggish seven-ball one against Essex Eagles on May 31 courtesy of a sharp catch from Simon Harmer.

Facing Matt Critchley in the seventh over of the run-chase, Tom Kohler bludgeoned the leg-spinner towards the off-side boundary only to find an agile Essex Eagles skipper at extra cover.

Despite the sensational fielding brilliance from Simon Harmer, his team Essex Eagles failed to halt Somerset’s burgeoning batting charge at the County Ground.

Chasing 194 for a win, Somerset’s middle-order batter Tom Abell cracked a fiery 36-ball 55 while captain Lewis Gregory scored 44 from just 20 balls to steer their side to a last-over victory.

Simon Harmer himself conceded 24 runs off his two wicketless overs, while Daniel Sams conceded the winning boundary in the final over of the match.

Earlier in the match, Essex Eagles charted 193-6 off 20 overs, with South African-based opener Dean Elgar top scoring in the innings through a fluent 51-ball 77.

Meanwhile, the outcome marked the second successive defeat for winless Essex Eagles, thus occupying the number eighth position on the nine-team T20 Blast 2024 South Group points table.

Simon Harmer and co. will now face Middlesex in Chelmsford on June 2.
