India are leading the series
Star Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal started from where he left off in the 4th T20I during the 5th T20I between India and Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club after the hosts won the toss and decided to bowl first. Jaiswal walked out to open the batting with Shubman Gill and created a massive world record on the first ball of the match, which was bowled by Zimbabwe skipper Sikandar Raza.
Known for his positive intent in the powerplay, Jaiswal wasted no time in helping India get a quick start as he smashed Raza for a big six on the first ball of the match. Later, the umpire signaled a no-ball, and the left-handed opening batter made full use of the free-hit and smashed it for a six too.
This meant that India had a stunning tally of 13 runs on the board after the first ball of the match, out of which 12 came from Jaiswal's bat. This feat ensured that both Jaiswal and India set a series of world records.
Yashasvi Jaiswal Created Massive World Record
Through the course of the incredible start, Jaiswal set the record for scoring the most runs on the first legal delivery of the match by a batter, as well as the first batter from a full member nation to hit two sixes on the first two balls of a men's T20I innings. The only other batter to achieve the feat is Ivan Selemani, who achieved it in 2022 during a match between Tanzania and Rwanda.
Quite incredibly, Jaiswal has achieved the feat in the IPL too when he hit Nitish Rana for two sixes on the first two balls of an innings during a match between the Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2023 at Eden Gardens. Jaiswal is one of just two players in IPL history to achieve the feat alongside Virat Kohli.
India's tally of 13 runs on the first ball of the match also set the record for the most runs scored after one legal delivery, breaking Pakistan's record (10) set against Sri Lanka in 2022.

Jaiswal's stunning feat comes less than 24 hours after he powered India to a 10-wicket victory in the 4th T20I with an incredible unbeaten knock of 93 in 53 balls.
However, Jaiswal failed to play a big knock on Sunday and departed on the fifth ball of the first over after making 12 runs in five balls. India also lost the wickets of Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma early before Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag rebuilt the innings with a steady 65-run partnership.
