Apple may employ 5 lakh people in India: This Tata Group company likely to be biggest employer

According to market research firm Counterpoint Research, Apple captured the top spot in terms of revenue generated in India for the first time in 2023, although Samsung continues to lead in terms of sales volume. Exports jumped from USD 6.27 billion in 2022-23 to USD 12.1 billion in 2023-24, reflecting a near 100% increase.

Based on a conservative estimate, they are likely to employ five lakh people in the next three years through their vendors and component suppliers." Apple itself has not commented on this projection.This news comes alongside Apple's plans to significantly increase its production capacity in India. The company aims to over five-fold its manufacturing output in the country, reaching a target of USD 40 billion (around ₹3.32 lakh crore) within the next four to five years.This growth spurt coincides with Apple's recent success in the Indian market. According to market research firm Counterpoint Research, Apple captured the top spot in terms of revenue generated in India for the first time in 2023, although Samsung continues to lead in terms of sales volume. Counterpoint's report highlights that Apple surpassed the 10 million unit mark in shipments for the first time last year, propelling them to the top revenue position.Furthermore, trade data from The Trade Vision indicates a significant rise in Apple's iPhone exports from India. Exports jumped from USD 6.27 billion in 2022-23 to USD 12.1 billion in 2023-24, reflecting a near 100% increase.
