Over the last few years, Apple has been focussing on using eco-friendly or sustainable products to save the environment. As a part of its accessories lineup, Apple launched its new range of FineWoven iPhone cases and Apple Watch bands last year to much fanfare, as these accessories served as an environment-friendly alternative to leather or silicon cases.

However, many buyers quickly complained that the material of these FineWoven cases was prone to attracting dirt, and scuffs, and had many durability issues. FineWoven also simply felt less premium to hold in hand and was more prone to accidental damages.

Apple may stop production of FineWoven accessories: Details

According to X tipster Kosutami, Apple is reportedly planning to stop the production of FineWoven cases. He also mentioned that Apple will move to another material type due to durability issues, which will be again different from leather.

Previously, Kosutami had revealed Apple's plans to introduce new Apple Watch bands and iPhone cases, which will be made of a woven fabric over a month before their launch. He had also shared the official images of these accessories before anyone else. Hence, his revelation does carry some extra weight though Apple hasn’t said anything about FineWoven cases.

Last September, Apple replaced its leather accessories with FineWoven cases and watch bands, claiming them to be more environmentally friendly. The Cupertino-based tech giant described these accessories as luxurious made from 68% post-consumer recycled polyester.

Recently Apple omitted new colour options for FineWoven accessories, and by the looks of it could now completely stop the production of these cases and Watch bands. However, it may take some time, before the existing stock is fully sold out.
