Delhi: A Cred user paid his credit card bill of Rs 87,000 using the fintech company's app, and in return he got a cashback of Re 1. This disappointed the man who took to X, formerly Twitter, to share his views on his experience with the app. Gurhot Ahluwalia, who is a manager at Accenture, said he would rather use the traditional way of paying his credit card bills from now onwards, instead of using Cred.

While clearing out his dues on Cred, Ahluwalia expected some 'maha' cashback. However, it did not turn out to be the case. He also raised concerns over sharing his personal data with the app. He said, “Made a credit card bill payment of 87,000 and received a maha cashback of ₹1 from Cred. Time to stop sharing data with Cred and pay directly from the bank portal”.

Ahluwalia’s post sparked apprehension over data sharing with Cred. His post has been receiving a huge engagement as a number of users are concerning over sharing their personal data for “peanuts”.

Post Sparks Debate

One of the comments on Ahluwalia’s tweet read, “Should have done that longtime ago. For peanuts he is pulling your data and selling to Fintech lenders etc. hope you didn’t allow the email access, which they insist so vehemently”.

“Worst part is they continue to pull data even after you have deleted all cards from the account and even your account!” read another comment.

While many advocated for quitting Cred, some X users shared why they have stopped using the app already. “Worst part is they continue to pull data even after you have deleted all cards from the account and even your account!,” one of the comments read.

Another comment by a user named Gurugram Man said, “Did that over about 1.5 years ago, rewards were worthwhile only in the beginning then they reduced the cash burn”.
