Gen AI platform Hanooman goes live with 98 languages; Claims to be largest multilingual platform

SML India has partnered with technology majors like Hewlett Packard, Yotta, the Telangana Government, and software industry body NASSCOM to offer Gen AI enterprise solutions through Hanooman.

Seetha Mahalaxmi Healthcare (SML) and 3AI Holding on May 10 launched the homegrown Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI) platform Hanooman, which is being touted as the largest multilingual and most affordable Gen AI platform. It is available in 98 global languages, of which, 12 are Indian languages, the startup said in a release.

“Fully functional multilingual web platform and app built in India is now available for download for Android users, with the iOS app expected soon,” the startup said in the release. Hanooman is presently accessible in its free version, however, a premium subscription plan will be launched later this year.

In April, Hanooman announced a 50-50 percent partnership agreement with Abu Dhabi-based 3AI Holding. Along with translation capabilities, Hanooman’s features can handle everything from a casual chat to offering professional advice as well as performing complex technical tasks like coding and tutoring.

The Gen AI platform will offer its multimodal and multilingual capabilities, including text, voice, image, and code to users.

Hanooman aims to cater to four sectors: healthcare, governance, financial services, and education. It offers an open-source alternative to commercially accessible Large Language Models (LLMs). Nonetheless, it will also provide a closed-source model tailored for enterprises, that need on-premise solutions.

The platform aims to reach 200 million users within its first year of launch. SML India has partnered with technology majors like Hewlett Packard, Yotta, the Telangana Government, and software industry body NASSCOM to offer Gen AI enterprise solutions through Hanooman.

Through the partnership, Yotta will provide graphics processing unit (GPU) cloud infrastructure to SML India’s operations. Additionally, the partnership with NASSCOM is aimed at initiatives such as supporting AI startups, fintech innovation, engaging with 3,000 colleges, and participating in research programmes.

As far as the collaboration with the Government of Telangana is concerned, the partnership is to facilitate translation between English and Telugu, enhancing accessibility and understanding of crucial documents such as court orders.

The 12 Indian languages that the web version and app are currently available in include Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Kannada, Odia, Punjabi, Assamese, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Sindhi. Additionally, Hanooman’s global languages include English, Spanish, Italian, German, Japanese, Korean, and 80 other languages worldwide.

“We see Hanooman as a cornerstone of India's economic future, unlocking the vast potential of GenAI to drive innovation, productivity, and prosperity across various sectors,” Vishnu Vardhan, Co-Founder & CEO, SML India, was quoted as saying in the release.
