Microsoft Copilot Plus PCs:

Microsoft has recently introduced a new line of Copilot Plus PCs featuring sleek, lightweight designs and advanced AI capabilities. These cutting-edge devices are powered by Qualcomm’s latest ARM-based mobile processors, specifically the Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus platforms for now, with Intel and AMD-based versions also in the works.

The Copilot Plus PCs are designed to maximise on-device AI, leveraging the integrated neural processing unit (NPU) and small language models (SLMs) to offer a host of innovative features. One of them is called “Recall,” which gives Windows near-photographic memory capabilities. This allows users to access and organise virtually everything they have seen or done on their PC.

Recall uses a personal semantic index that is created and stored entirely on the device, ensuring user privacy. Snapshots remain local to the PC, and users have full control over them, with options to delete individual snapshots, adjust time ranges, or pause the feature altogether from the System Tray icon on the Taskbar. Additionally, users can filter out apps and websites from being saved.

Microsoft has also introduced Cocreator in Paint and Photos. This feature allows users to combine ink strokes with text prompts to generate new images in real-time. Furthermore, Restyle Image enhances photo editing by enabling users to apply new styles to their personal photos.

Another significant update is to Live Captions, which now includes live translations. This feature converts any audio on the PC into real-time English captions across all apps, supporting translations from over 40 languages, even when offline.

Microsoft has also confirmed that users will soon have access to the latest AI models, including GPT-4o from OpenAI, in the coming weeks.
