Rockstar Games had a surprise for its fans in December 2023, when it unveiled the first trailer of GTA VI and also announced that it will launch in 2025. Recently, the company gave a more streamlined launch timeline, saying that GTA VI will be coming in Fall 2025. In addition to this, Rockstar also said that the game will be coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox. However, there was no word about a PC version. And ever since the announcement, there hasn't been any official mention of the PC release date for the game. There have been a lot of rumours though. And while some said that a PC version will be delayed, recent rumours said that the game might come to PC around the same time when it releases for consoles.

Now, Rockstar Games parent Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has shed some light on a PC release for GTA VI in an interview with Video Games Chronicle. His comments were somewhat ambiguous, leaving room for various interpretations. "Well, the lack of news is not something set in stone, from what I’ve seen, because the only thing that happens after the lack of news is an announcement, I suppose, or a continued lack of news. I suppose that could also happen. It doesn’t seem to me that either of those things is set in stone," Zelnick said.

This suggests that while a PC release is not confirmed, it is also not entirely off the table.

Zelnick further elaborated on Rockstar's strategic approach to game launches. “Rockstar has a platform approach that we’ve seen before, and they will make more announcements in due course. I believe the right strategy for our business is to be where the consumer is, and historically what this company has done is target consumers wherever they are, on any platform that makes sense, over time.” This indicates that Rockstar is likely to adapt to market demands, possibly hinting at a future PC release without committing to a specific timeline.

Rockstar Games has a history of prioritising console releases before bringing their titles to PC. This was the case with previous hits like Grand Theft Auto IV, Grand Theft Auto V, LA Noire, and Red Dead Redemption 2. The delay in PC releases has often ranged from a few months to a couple of years, fuelling speculation that GTA VI might follow a similar pattern.

Mike York, a former Rockstar animator, highlighted this trend last year, noting that the company does not initially prioritise PC releases. This has also led to expectations that GTA VI could see a delayed PC launch, possibly one or two years after the console release. Fans are hopeful yet apprehensive, remembering the long wait times for previous Rockstar titles.

Talking about what we can expect from the game, the first trailer showcased the game's return to Vice City, sparking nostalgia and excitement among long-time fans. The game's protagonists, Lucia and Jason, are set to embark on a thrilling journey reminiscent of Bonnie and Clyde, adding to the anticipation.

While the uncertainty surrounding the PC release of GTA VI continues, Zelnick's remarks provide a glimmer of hope. Rockstar Games' historical patterns suggest that an eventual PC launch is not out of the question. Until an official announcement is made, fans can only speculate and hope for the best.
