Are you wondering how to try out the Samsung Galaxy’s new AI features without upgrading to a flagship Galaxy device? If so, this guide is dedicated to you, as here we will walk you through the steps to get Samsung Galaxy AI features on any Android phone.

For those unaware, Samsung brings AI features, like Live Translate, Circle to Search, etc. with the new Galaxy S24 devices. While we have already seen these features on other Samsung and Pixel devices, read the article till the end if you want to use them on other phones.

Get Galaxy AI Features on Any Android

While Samsung has a TryGalaxy app that gives Android users a demo of the AI features and what they are missing on their device, today you will learn the workaround methods to use the same feature on any Android device.

Live Translate

Samsung’s Live Translate feature translates the voice in real time and during phone calls, making it easier to communicate with users who speak a different language that you can’t understand.

The Live Translate feature is already available on Google Pixel Series smartphones and works fine all the time, but it does work for phone calls as of now. Also, for other Android phones, you need to rely on third-party apps since the feature is not available for them.

To use live translation on Pixel phones, navigate to Settings > System > Live Translate and enable the toggle for Use Live Translate.

Once enabled, add languages that you want to use for translation. Click on Add a language and choose the languages from the available ones. Once done, you will see a Translate button on the supported applications.

For other Android phones, follow the below steps:

Step 1: Open the Play Store on your device. Install the Truecaller and Google Translate apps.

Step 2: Record the call you want to translate. Head over to the voice recording on the Truecaller app that you want to translate and tap on it.

Step 3: On the next screen, tap on Transcription to see the translation.

Step 4: Copy the text and paste it into Google Translate to translate the recorded call into another language.

Note that Truecaller’s transcription feature is only available in the US for premium users as of now.

Interpreter

Samsung’s Interpreter feature translates in-person conversations in real-time, which allows users to have conversations without being hindered by language barriers.

The feature is very similar to the Google Translate app, and you can use it on other Android devices to get Samsung’s Interpreter-like feature. Here’s how you can use it:

Step 1: From the Play Store, install the Google Translate app.

Step 2: Once downloaded, open the app and tap on conversation.

Step 3: Select the input and output languages. You can also use the app offline. For this, you will have to download the voices you want to convert.

Step 4: Tap on the Auto mic button and start speaking. It will automatically translate the voice into the other language, along with the voice output.

Chat Assist

Chat Assist is a feature on Samsung’s Galaxy S24 that translates incoming and outgoing chats in real time. The Chat Assist feature on Samsung devices translates both incoming and outgoing chats in real time.

It works seamlessly with third-party apps, which eliminates the need to switch to another app during conversations. To use this feature on other Android devices, you need to install an AI keyboard app such as Microsoft SwiftKey, Wordtune, etc.

Here’s how you can make use of SwiftKey to get Samsung’s Chat Assist like-feature.

Step 1: Install the Microsoft SwiftKey AI Keyboard app on your phone.

Step 2: Open the application and create an account.

Step 3: Set the Microsoft SwiftKey AI Keyboard as your default keyboard. Just follow the on-screen instructions to achieve this.

Step 4: Next, open the app in which you want to translate messages.

Step 5: Launch the keyboard and click on the Translate icon.

Step 6: Choose the language in which you want to change the text.

Instead of Microsoft’s SwiftKey AI keyboard, you can use the Google’s Gboard to get the same translation functionality.

Note Assist

The Note assist feature on Samsung devices helps users enhance their efficiency by simplifying tasks like summarization, formatting, and organizing notes in the Samsung Notes app.

Many free AI note-taking apps like Notion, Obsidian, etc. offer the same functionality as the Note Assist feature. Here’s how you can use the Notion app:

Step 1: First of all, install the Notion app.

Step 2: Once installed, open the app and create an account.

Step 3: Tap the plus icon to create a note.

Step 4: On the note creation page, tap the AI icon in the left corner.

Step 5: Enter the text, and it will create notes for you.

Generative Edit

Using Samsung’s Generative Edit feature, you can resize, remove, or reposition objects in an image. Now, if you are aware of Google’s Magic Editor, you may have thought that it’s similar to that. Yes, Samsung’s generative editing is similar to the Magic editor in the Photos app.

If you have a non-Pixel device, you can make use of the Magic Editor with the help of the Google One subscription.

Transcript Assist

Samsung’s Transcript Assist feature summarizes and translates texts from recordings. The Google Recorder app already has the voice transcript feature; you can download it to get Samsung’s Transcript assist on any Android device. Here’s how you can do it:

Step 1: Install the Google Recorder app on your phone.

Step 2: Once downloaded, open the app and start recording your voice.

Step 3: Switch to the Transcribe tab from Audio to see the transition of your voice.

Browsing Assist

Samsung’s Browsing Assist is very similar to the Google Pixel’s Summarize feature, in which you have to say or tap Summarize after opening Google Assistant to get a short overview of the content you are browsing, which you can also translate.

While non-Pixel phones don’t have the feature, you can translate the content just by tapping Translate after launching the Google Assistant.

Circle to Search

You might already be aware of this feature since it has becomes quite popular all around the internet. With the Circle to Search feature, you can search for any information just by drawing a circle around it using a simple gesture without switching the app. We have a dedicated guide on how you can get Circle to Search on any Android device.

Wrapping Up

So, these are the workaround methods through which you can get Samsung Galaxy AI features on any Android phone. While we have listed only eight features, there are some other AI features that Samsung announced, like Photo Assist, Nightography, etc.
