Hyundai has been spotted testing the electric variant of the Creta several times on public roads. Derived from the facelifted ICE Creta, this midsize electric SUV is expected to hit the market in early 2025 following its global debut later this year. It will enter a competitive segment, taking on forthcoming models like the Tata Curvv, Maruti Suzuki eVX, its Toyota counterpart, MG ZS EV and Mahindra XUV400 amongst others.

On the outside, the Hyundai Creta EV comes with a closed-off front grille section, redesigned bumpers, a set of new alloy wheels and a charging port mounted at the front but the LED headlamps and tail lamps look almost similar to the ICE Creta. We do expect the Hyundai Creta EV to offer single and dual electric motor configurations with a claimed range going up to 500 km.

The spy images show that the zero-emission Creta shares many similarities with the ICE version, particularly inside the cabin. The integrated twin-screen setup, featuring an instrument cluster and a touchscreen display, mirrors the latest Creta. However, the steering wheel sports a distinct finish, showcasing a new logo introduced in Hyundai’s electric vehicles sold internationally.

The drive mode selector has been positioned on the steering column for convenience. In terms of features, expect Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), six airbags, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera system, automatic climate control, a cooled glovebox, a layered dashboard, a panoramic sunroof, etc to be available.

The electric Creta will support fast charging, although it’s unclear whether Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities will be included. Additionally, the electric motor could be borrowed from the base-spec Kona Electric. It is worth noting that Hyundai Motor Group has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian brand Exide for the local manufacturing of batteries.

These batteries will be utilized in the upcoming range of zero-emission vehicles from both brands. They may leverage their global alliance with LG Chem for further advancements in battery technology too but nothing has been confirmed yet.
