Hyundai India has voluntarily recalled 1,744 units of its electric SUV , the Ioniq 5. The recall is aimed at fixing a potential malfunction in the Integrated Charging Control Unit ( ICCU ). The manufacturer had launched the EV back in January 2023 at the Auto Expo. The ICCU powers key electronic components such as the air conditioning, infotainment system, lights and seat ventilation by converting voltage from the main battery to the 12V battery. In the affected vehicles, this unit may cause the 12V battery to discharge unexpectedly. The recall is specifically for models manufactured between July 21, 2022, and April 30, 2024. If you own a unit manufactured between the said dates, there is a possibility that the ICCU of your Ioniq 5 EV might be faulty.Owners who are concerned about the recall can verify their vehicle's status by reaching out to their nearest Hyundai dealership. Besides that, the company might reach out to customers with faulty units, after which the customers can get the issue fixed without any extra cost.At present, Hyundai Motor India sells two electric vehicles in India, including the Ioniq 5 and Kona electric. The Ioniq 5 is priced from Rs 45.95 lakh, ex-showroom, in India and is powered by a 72.6 kWh battery pack that returns an ARAI-certified range of 631 km on a single charge.Stay tuned to TOI Auto for latest updates on the automotive sector and do follow us on our social media handles on Facebook, Instagram and X.
