Mahindra & Mahindra is preparing to unveil the 5-door version of the Thar on 15th August in the Indian market.
Now, the base variant and the top-end variant of the Thar Armada were spotted in Ladakh.
From the video, we can make out that the base variant will come with steel wheels and halogen headlamps whereas the top-end variant comes with alloy wheels and LED headlamps.
For instance, the lower variant would have a smaller size for the infotainment screen whereas the top-end variant will get the new touchscreen unit from the XUV 400.
The primary distinction between the 3-door Thar and the 5-door Thar lies in the size of the wheelbase.

Now, the base variant and the top-end variant of the Thar Armada were spotted in Ladakh. Mahindra is probably doing the final rounds of testing before the SUV is unveiled.

The lower variants would get manual AC controls whereas the top-end variant would get automatic climate control. There would also be a sunroof on the higher variants.

Apart from this, Mahindra has made a few cosmetic changes as well. For instance, the bumpers are different, the alloys measure 18 inches and there is a revised grille as well.
The primary distinction between the 3-door Thar and the 5-door Thar lies in the size of the wheelbase. The 5-door variant will feature a longer wheelbase, allowing Mahindra to incorporate a set of rear doors for the passengers in the back. This modification will entry and exit for the occupants much easier.

Mahindra Thar Armada: Specs
In terms of powertrain options, the Thar 5-door will come with a petrol as well as a diesel powertrain. The petrol unit is a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine whereas the diesel engine is a 2.2-litre unit. Both engines will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. It is expected that the company will offer rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive powertrains.
