In a recent post, an engineer took to X (formerly Twitter) and shared the "hard truth" as to why switching jobs was the only way for employees to get high salaries and why internal appraisals in companies was a "joke".

The engineer also stressed on why salary was important to do good work and added it was no one but the employee's fault, if he or she was underpaid.The man's post saw a lot of responses, some of whom narrated how changing jobs helped them get a larger hike in salary.

"True. I switched and job in 6 months. Reached 6.5LPA . Now switching again after 45 fays. Expecting 9.6LPA.God has been gracious," one user wrote.

"Be aspirational between 20 to 30. 99% Indian IT companies internal appraisal is eyewash. `Love your job not your company," another user wrote.

An "AmbitionBox Salary Increment Outlook 2024" survey recently revealed that 65 per cent of employees in India felt confident in expecting favourable appraisals and highlighted the prevailing optimism amidst challenging economic conditions.
