New Bajaj NS400Z vs Dominar 400 comparison

The new Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z shares the same engine as the Dominar 400 while sharing components from the smaller NS200 and N250. Here’s how they compare.

The Dominar was Bajaj’s flagship offering in the Indian market and other markets around the world, however, with the launch of the new NS400Z, Bajaj has two motorcycles at the top of its product range. So how do they compare against each other? Let’s take a closer look at the two 400cc motorcycles.

Bajaj NS400Z vs Dominar 400: What’s the difference?

The biggest difference between the two motorcycles is the design and purpose. As Bajaj claims, the Dominar 400 is a power cruiser while the NS400Z is a street fighter. This is evident when looking at the design of the motorcycles, as the new NS400Z follows the lines of its smaller sibling, the NS200, with a hint of the N250’s face.

The Bajaj Dominar 400, on the other hand, needs no introduction, as it has been in the market for a while now. The Dominar’s design is unique and is shared only with its smaller Dominar 250 sibling. The motorcycle features a muscular tank and other components, giving it a good presence. That said, the Dominar 400 also has a throaty exhaust note and a large side-slung exhaust, while the NS400Z opts for a sleeker style.

Bajaj NS400Z vs Dominar 400: Equipment and features

The two motorcycles share a lot of similar components. For example, both motorcycles get USD forks, a monoshock at the rear, disc brakes at both ends, dual-channel ABS, alloy wheels, and more. Few changes are there, however.

The Dominar 400 gets a single-colour LCD console, while the new NS400Z gets a coloured LCD instrument console. That said, the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z gets ride-by-wire, ride modes, traction control, ABS modes, adjustable levers, and Bluetooth connectivity with navigation. This is something to consider when choosing between the two motorcycles.

Bajaj NS400Z vs Dominar 400: Engine specifications

The two motorcycles share the same engine, a 373cc, single-cylinder unit that makes 39bhp and 35Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. There are absolutely no changes to the powertrain apart from the exhaust setup, as the Dominar gets a side-slung exhaust, while the new NS400Z gets an underbelly unit.
