Switching from iPhone to Samsung? WhatsApp transfer to get much easier

Currently, WhatsApp allows you to transfer data from one Android device to another Android device, from one iPhone to another iPhone, from an Android device to an iPhone, and from an iPhone to an Android device. Unfortunately, each of the four ways to transfer data has a different process. The new method also doesn’t mention iCloud anywhere, which means that it will not require cloud storage platforms for data transfer. The new method will make it easier to transfer WhatsApp data between two devices on the same or different platforms. Expect Meta to make the new data transfer method in WhatsApp available to the public in the next few months.

Currently, WhatsApp allows you to transfer data from one Android device to another Android device, from one iPhone to another iPhone, from an Android device to an iPhone, and from an iPhone to an Android device. Unfortunately, each of the four ways to transfer data has a different process. Plus, some of these processes require iCloud or a data cable, and many people find these processes complex and hard.

Well, WhatsApp is working on introducing a single (read universal) method to transfer data between devices of the same platform or different platforms. More importantly, it could eliminate the need for iCloud and a data cable, and it could be much easier and straightforward than the existing ones. According to a new report from WABetaInfo, the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android (version 2.24.13.6) offers a new method for transferring chats to another device.

WhatsApp gets a universal method for transferring data to an Android device or an iPhone

In the current stable version of the app (version 2.24.11.79), when you go to the section to transfer chats, it tells you that you can use the section to transfer data to another Android phone. However, the latest beta version of the app doesn’t mention Android anywhere, suggesting that you can use the same method to transfer data to an iPhone as well. The new method also doesn’t mention iCloud anywhere, which means that it will not require cloud storage platforms for data transfer.

The new method will make it easier to transfer WhatsApp data between two devices on the same or different platforms. Meta could soon release a new beta version of WhatsApp for iOS which should have this new method as well. That will give us a better idea of how the feature works. Expect Meta to make the new data transfer method in WhatsApp available to the public in the next few months.
