The Galaxy S24 Ultra emerged as the best-seller, capturing over 30% market share, surpassing the combined share of the next two smartphones -- the Galaxy S24 Plus and the base variant Galaxy S24.The South Korean brand secured a 58% share of the GenAI segment. Features like chat/note assist, circle to search, and live translation becoming popular among users helped the company achieve the feat.Chinese brands secured six spots in the top-10 list. The Xiaomi 14 and Vivo X100 models ranked fourth and fifth, respectively. Brands like Xiaomi, Vivo, Honor and OPPO are also integrating GenAI features into their products, including AI-generated portraits, AI eraser tools, and advanced offline virtual assistants.The report also notes that China is the world's largest market for GenAI-capable smartphones as it has captured one-third of the global market.The report adds that the number of GenAI-capable smartphone models has increased from 16 to over 30 during Q1 2024. This indicates the brands’ growing interest in this segment.Analysts expect that GenAI-capable smartphones will account for 11% of the overall smartphone market in 2024 as new use cases emerge and consumer awareness of this segment grows.Media-centric features and personalised virtual assistants are expected to be key drivers of adoption. On the hardware front, the availability of more GenAI-capable chipsets from major semiconductor companies at affordable prices will further support the segment's growth.Moreover, Apple is also expected to enter the GenAI market later this year with its iPhone 16 lineup.
