WhatsApp is testing yet another new layout for its instant messaging platform. The under-testing new layout brings changes to the status update page. The new layout will allow users to preview statues without opening them. It is expected to roll out to iOS and Android users in the future.
According to feature tracker WABetaInfo, the new layout for status updates is being rolled out with WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.12.20. Some beta testers previously had access to this change, but now it has been made available to more users with the latest update.
WABetaInfo shared a screenshot showing that a new, larger thumbnail for status updates has been introduced, replacing the previous smaller circular window. It is speculated that users may now be able to preview the status update from this thumbnail without having to open it. However, the thumbnail is still positioned at the top of the screen beneath the search bar and has not been moved, according to the feature tracker.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp is currently testing a new chat filter for its users. The feature is being tested by users enrolled in the Google Play Beta program. It allows users to add and filter their favourite chats for easier access. Additionally, the instant messaging platform is also testing unread messages and group filters.
The favourite chat filter was discovered by WABetaInfo on WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.12.7. This new feature enables users to organise their favourite chats using a new filter. It is designed to help users who receive numerous messages from various people and have difficulty finding their regular contacts. Although the chat pinning feature already exists, the platform currently only permits a maximum of three pinned chats.
